Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh is an Indian movie set to release on April 18, 2025. It is a historical courtroom drama directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and stars Akshay Kumar as C. Sankaran Nair, a fearless lawyer who took on the British Empire to reveal the truth behind the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The movie also features R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles. Though it’s a spiritual sequel to the 2019 film Kesari, it tells a new and different story inspired by the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. The film was first titled Shankara but was later renamed to link it with the Kesari theme.
The story focuses on Sankaran Nair’s fight for justice through the legal system after the heartbreaking events at Jallianwala Bagh. Filming began in November 2022 in Mumbai, where a detailed set of Jallianwala Bagh was created. Some scenes were also shot at IIT Roorkee. The movie is produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films. Its teaser and trailer have already gained attention, showing that the film will be an emotional and powerful story about bravery and truth.
